Corinth and Topsham

East Corinth-East Topsham and return. 16 miles, easy.
Any bike. From I-91, Exit 16 in Bradford, 31 miles, via VT
25.

Numbered cues below refer to MAP. Click here. (PDF)

Once novices get the biking bug on railtrails and bikeways,
the open road is not far behind. A perfect starter trip, this
eight mile pedal along the Tabor branch of the Waits River offers
everything cyclists new to the road could want – fine scenery,
good pavement, no traffic, and a few small hills to crow about
afterward. The prevailing wind even blows in the right direction.
More serious enthusiasts will set out from I-91 Exit 16 in
Bradford, along VT. Rt. 25, adding fifteen miles to the outing.
Everyone should bring a picnic.

1. Beetle Juice exteriors shot on hilltop, 1986, with
village as backdrop.

2. Cows cross road here, now and again, to be milked. A rare
sight these days.

3. To Bradford, 13.5 miles, via Swamp, Fuller, and North Rds.,
paved dirt. Exceptional views.

4. Devils Den. Cave with a good story to it. Ask an old-timer.

5. East Topsham. Eat picnic on bench at old blacksmith shop.
Listen to brook, smell horses, watch phoebe pair flicking tails on
telephone wire. Wait for car to come by. Enjoy shade, go home,
tell no one.
